Maker Faire has its roots in the USA. The Americans call it „The Greatest Show (& Tell) on Earth“, which means that Maker Faire is an inventor’s exhibition, a fun fair and at the same time something completely new. It’s a family-friendly festival for innovation, creativity and technology.
Here makers gather to present their projects to a broad public. Makers are resourceful DIY-enthusiasts, creative minds, unconventional thinkers or technology experts who enjoy tinkering and can be found in all age groups. They are eager to learn, but also knowledge mediators who like to share their innovations. For some exhibitors participating at Maker Faire has even been the beginning of a successful start-up.
Trying out new things is a main factor. At each Maker Faire there are a lot of interesting hands-on stations complemented by exciting talks and workshops. Speziell das Thema Education wird großgeschrieben. Kids and students are given an understanding of science, technology, new materials and tools in a creative and playful way. The focus is on having fun.
